Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
Nassau is located just 183miles or 296km off the coast of Miami. With a quick 35min flight from Miami, you can be on a beautiful tropical island surrounded by some of the clearest most turquoise water I have ever seen! This was my 3rd time traveling to the Bahamas and 2nd time staying in Nassau. This time I (Corina) was headed to Nassau on a girls trip with some of my fellow travel blogger friends, Dom, Julianna and Shaunie. We decided to stay at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar as the property has so much to offer. We really wanted this trip to be very relaxing and easy going. The Grand Hyatt also sits right between its too sister properties, The Rosewood and SLS. Together they make up the Baha Mar Complex. This was especially appealing it offered wide selection of restaurants, swimming pools, plenty of shopping options, and gambling! Plus, the complex sits on the Cable Beach, a stunning beach with beautiful turquoise water.
The hotel is located an easy 15 min cab ride from the airport and will cost you about $40 with tip. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is made up of two towers, east and west. All my girls and I stayed on the east tower in Ocean View Deluxe King rooms! They were absolutely stunning!
The Grand Hyatt offers 6 different pools all with their own unique Bahamian style. They also offer private cabanas for rent if you would like! We had a cabana for one day and would highly recommend renting one. Not only is it a perfect spot to post up for the day and relax, you also have protection from the sun! And the sun down in the Bahamas is no joke!
The Grand Hyatt is a bit more kid friendly. So if you are in the mood for a kid free environment and a more of a party atmosphere, you can head over to the SLS. They offer 2 pools: Bungalow Pool Bar & Grill, a pool more for lounging and soaking up the sun while drinking a delicious beverage or Privilege, an upscale party pool with cabanas and daybeds.
Note: The Rosewoods pool is off limits unless staying at the hotel as it is the most exclusive of the three properties. You can however, hang out/dine at their bars and restaurants.
With over 30 restaurants throughout the Baha Mar complex, you are sure to not go hungry. From high end dinning experiences to tasty food trucks, the variety is hard to beat. Here are a few of our favorites.
Café Madeleine: A french inspired café with freshly baked pastries, cakes and macaroons. It also offers a breakfast menu and an all day menu. A perfect spot for a causal yet delicious breakfast or lunch.
The Palms: I personally ate here twice for lunch! This open air restaurant had very tasty Ahi Tacos and the beyond burger which is my absolute favorite meatless burger!
El Jefe: A Mexican food truck with very good margaritas!
Sandy Dog: Another food truck with…. you guessed it, hot dogs!! Now I didn’t eat here since I don’t eat meat, however, two of the other girls did and they said the dogs here are delicious!
Umami Burger: A burger and fries food truck with the best truffle cheese fries!!
Da’ Poke Bowl: A outdoor food stand with very good fresh poke bowls
DAQ’s: Located right next to Da’ Poke Bowl, DAQ’s offers the best daiquiris.
3 Tides Fish House: A great spot for a casual dinner. I had the best seafood tower of my life here!!
Shaung Ba: Here you can experience haute Chinese cuisine in a very elegant setting. After traveling around Asia quite a bit and being married to Panda :), this Chinese food definitely passed the test!
As mentioned before Baha Mar is located on the world famous Cable Beach. Which is just north west of Nassau town and runs about 2 1/2 miles long. This beach is known for its fluffy white sand and its crystal water. Here you can relax on a beach chair, lounge in the water on a large float that can fit up to 10 people, jet ski, and enjoy a cocktail made for you fresh on the beach. You will also find a pier located on the beach right in front of SLS. Here you can take a short ferry to the private island of Balmoral. Balmoral Island is equipped with a deluxe beach club and pool where you can relax and have a delicious meal and tasty beverage. There is also a stunning beach on the island where you can relax in the sun, snorkel, swim with dolphins and string rays.
We spent 4 of the 5 days we were in Nassau at the Baha Mar complex. We left one day to visit Exuma which was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. Stay tuned for my Exuma Blog coming soon. All in all, the Bahamas is amazing and if you are thinking about visiting I highly recommend staying on Nassau at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar!
